This week, Swans students have been marking the 100th
anniversary of the start of the First World War in a variety of ways.
Year 9 humanities students presented an excellent
assembly on the theme, which included a fascinating debate on whether war can
ever be justified.
Here in the library we have displayed some of the many
books in our collection that were either inspired by the period or written
during it. Literature plays a very important role in the remembrance of this dreadful time in our history, helping us to commemorate all those that lost
their lives.
We also have an unplugged twitter feed displaying a
selection of tweets from the various academics who, one hundred years on, are
tweeting the events of the Great War daily as they unfold.
